The Undersigned would respectfully report to your Hon Body that the warrant for extending Pine Street from its present northern terminus to the Lake Shore has been returned by the Collector of the ND satisfied in full I would therefore recommend the passage of the following order

Ordered that the Mayor & Clerk be and they are hereby authorised to pay over all damages awarded by the Commissioners for extending Pine Street from its present northern terminus to the Lake Shore to the parties to whom said damages shall have been laid over or deposited as required by law the said Street shall be declared a public highway and the St Commissioner of the North Division shall proceed to open the Same forthwith.

An Ordinance Establishing the grades of Pine Street & Sand Street

Be it ordained By the Common Council of the City of Chicago

Sec 1 That in that part of the North Division bounded north by Chicago Avenue, East by Sand Street, South by the Chicago River and West by Rush Street, the grades of sidewalks be fixed as follows:

(These heights are refered to the plane of low water, A.D. 1847 as established by the Commissioners of the Illinois & MIchigan Canal, the said plane, being Eight feet and twenty three hundredths (8 23/100) below the water table of "Loomis' Store" on the South west corner of Clark and Water Streets)

Sec 2 The height fixed above shall be the grades of the Curb Stone of the side walk at the four corners of the intersection & the grade shall be drawn straight from corner to corner.

The sidewalk shall incline upward from the curb stone toward the line of building at the rate of one inch in three feet.

To the Mayor & Common Council of the City of Chicago

The undersigned citizens and property owners of the City of Chicago respectfully petition that the name of Sand street be changed to St. Clair street.

This change it is submitted is proper & desireable because of the hitherto notoriously bad reputation of the Sands, of the similarity of the two names & identity of location.

To the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Chicago, in Common Council assembled:

Your Committee on Streets & Alleys of the N. Div. to whom was referred the petition of Ogden Fleetwood & Co. W.L. Newberry, J.N. Arnold and others for the changing of the name of Sand Street so that the same may be hereafter called Saint Clair Street

having had the same under advisement, beg leave to report, an ordinance in compliance with the prayer of the petition.

An Ordinance Changing the name of Sand
Street to that of Saint Clair Street

Be it ordained by the Common Council of the city of Chicago, that the street in the north division of said city lying east of and parallell with Pine Street, extending from North Water Street to Chicago Avenue, and heretofore known and designated as Sand Street be, and the same shall, hereafter be known and designated as Saint Clair Street.

We the undersigned would respectfully petition your Honourable body to pass an order causing property holders on the South side of Pierson Street from Green Bay street to Lake Michigan to vacate the sidewalk on the said south side of Pierson Street which at present they have fenced in and use for their private benefit also on the west side of Pine St from Pierson Street to Chicago Avenue and We your petitioners will ever pray&c &c

Sands and others, for the passage of an order to remove obstructions from the side walk on the south side of Pierson Street, from Green Bay street to Lake Michigan - which is now fenced in by property holders -
Also on the West Side of Pine Street, from Pierson street to Chicago Avenue

having had the same under consideration, are of the opnion that the prayer of the petitioners should be granted; they therefor ask for the passage of the following orders:

Ordered, That the City Marshal be hereby instructed to take such steps as may be necessary, and in accordance with the city charter, to remove all obstructions from the sidewalks on the south side of Pierson Street, from Green Bay Street to Lake Michigan, Also on the west side of Pine Street from Pierson Street to Chicago Avenue.

And that he require all property holders who have any portion of said side walks fenced in to remove the same without delay.

April 4, 1866

An ordinance authorizing the Comptroller to issue a certificate of indebtedness for balance of payment for a lot for the Water Works.

Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Chicago.

Section 1. That the City Comptroller be and is hereby authorized to issue a certificate of indebtedness to the order of William Lill, bearing interest at the rate of six per cent per annum, for the sum of nine thousand and seven hundred dollars ($9,700) payable one year from the date thereof, for the balance of purchase money for the east one hundred eighty seven and one fourth (187 1/4) feet of that part of Block twenty one (21) of the C.T. Subdivision of south Frac quarter (1/4) of Sec. 3.39.14 lying west of and adjoining Pine street, between Chicago Avenue and Pearson Street.

REPORT TO THE COMMON COUNCIL

Office of the Board of Public Works, Chiago, April 30, 1886

To the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Chicago, in Common Council assembled:

The Board of Public Works having purchased the east half of the Block of land bounded by Pearson Street and Green Bay Street for the use of the Water Works, respectfully report to your honorable body that it will be necessary, in order to make room for the new engine house tower about to be constructed, to vacate Pine street between Chicago Avenue and Pearson Street and open a street eighty (80) feet further west than the present location of Pine street.

An Ordinance for this purpose is attached hereto.

The matter being familiar to your honorable body, the Board would respectfully request immediate action.
